WDMA Releases 2021 National Policy Agenda [Unpublished]

[Washington, DC] - The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) today released its 2021 WDMA National Policy Agenda. This comprehensive advocacy agenda outlines important policy priorities for the window, door, and skylight industry that will boost the housing and construction industry and support continued job creation in the vital U.S. manufacturing sector.

"With COVID-19 continuing its effects on the health of the public and the economy, it is crucial for Congress and the Biden administration to collaboratively advance legislation and policies that will facilitate economic recovery," said WDMA Chair Robert Lewis, Senior Vice President & General Counsel for Masonite International. "Window, door and skylight manufacturers remain vital to the building and housing industries, which are key to a thriving economy. The WDMA National Policy Agenda outlines policies that promote energy efficiency, robust housing and economic policy, fair trade practices and the elimination of excessive regulations, among others. This will ensure manufacturers are able to help fuel economic recovery and growth in 2021 and beyond."

The 2021 WDMA National Policy Agenda is divided into nine different policy areas:

  • Energy Conservation;
  • Building Codes;
  • Environmental Stewardship;
  • Building Safety;
  • Housing & Economic Policy;
  • Tax Policy;
  • Product Supply;
  • Trade Policy; and
  • Workforce/Workplace Policy

"WDMA is optimistic about working with Congress and the Biden administration to promote legislative and regulatory policies that will help the nation recover from the pandemic, support housing and building construction and improve the manufacturing climate in this country," said WDMA President and CEO Michael O'Brien.

WDMA's 2021 National Policy Agenda will be distributed to members of Congress and key Administration officials.
